Exciting times at Tigers, says scrum-half Harrison

Sam Harrison says there is an air of excitement around the training ground as the new Leicester Tigers coaching set-up beds in their ideas.Former Tigers centre Aaron Mauger, who was part of the coaching team at the Crusaders in New Zealand, returned to the club as head coach this summer.   He links up with Richard Cockerill, Geordan Murphy and Richard Blaze and with new defence coach Scott Hansen.   And scrum-half Harrison says the squad have responded with enthusiasm during the pre-season.   “We’re not looking too far ahead at the minute but there is a very positive mind-set and everyone’s very excited to be here,” says Harrison.   “We’ve done a few team activities so far, which has really helped us to bond. The lads have all been great and, with the new staff that are here as well, it’s a fresh start. You can sense the excitement around the training ground.”   There are now 40 days until Tigers take on the Pumas in the Marcos Ayerza International Challenge at Welford Road on Saturday, September 5, organised as part of his testimonial year.   Tigers then kick-off their Kings of the North campaign against Sale Sharks at the AJ Bell Stadium on Saturday, September 12 before welcoming Newcastle Falcons to Welford Road on Saturday, September 19 (3pm).   Tigers head to their Kingston Park home on Friday, September 25 for an 8pm kick-off and complete their schedule at home to Sale Sharks on Saturday, October 10 (kick-off 3pm.   And Harrison says the Kings of the North tournament will be an excellent lead into the Aviva Premiership season.   “The Kings of the North is going to be a great start to it all,” he says. “It’s like a mini season before the season starts.”   Admission to all Welford Road fixtures in the Kings of the North tournament is included in Leicester Tigers season tickets for 2015/16.
