It has been a big year for historic celebrations in Leicester - and it will continue this Saturday when Tigers In The Park features a medieval theme.Tigers In The Park, a free event for the whole family, starts at 10am, presenting five hours of activities and entertainment before Leicester Tigers face Newcastle Falcons in a Kings of the North fixture at 3pm.   The city’s King Richard III Appeal has passed on its appreciation to staff and supporters of Leicester Tigers for their support during the reinternment events in March which attracted world attention.   Tigers were involved in a number of events, including hosting a team of clergy who took part in the Big Boot on the Welford Road pitch in front of a 20,000-plus crowd, a press launch for Kings of the North just a few metres from Richard III’s final resting place at Leicester Cathedral, a themed Gauntlet challenge at the Lord Taverners charity day at Welford Road, and a Richard III trophy for the Kings of the North tournament which acts as a curtain-raiser to the new season.   The medieval theme continues at this year’s Tigers in the Park organised by the club for this Saturday (September 19).   Now in its fourth year, Tigers In The Park is a free community event for all the family based at Nelson Mandela Park opposite the club stadium. With a medieval theme, this year’s event features minstrel bands, sword fighting, archery, falconry and re-enactments from 10am right up to kick-off.   Junior Tigers Club members will have a chance to take part in a prince and princess parade pre-game and Sir Welford (the club mascot in special knight’s attire for the occasion) will also join the activities.   There will be bars and food options on the park with picnic areas, player appearances and a rugby activity area. There will be bhangra dancers, facepainting and wheelchair rugby, plus opportunities to get involved with the club’s official charities, all before kick-off in the Kings of the North fixture against Newcastle Falcons.   Kings of the North home fixtures are included in Tigers season tickets. For all other supporters, match tickets are available now.   Book in person at the ticket office desk in the Club Store at Welford Road, phone 0116 319 8888 or book online by clicking here.
