Half-backs praised after win in tough conditions

Tom Croft praised the direction from the Leicester half-backs after Tigers returned from a testing trip to Treviso with a 36-3 bonus-point win.Tigers scored five tries at a rain and wind-lashed Stadio di Monigo to ensure a maximum 10-point haul from their opening two games in Europe’s Champions Cup.   A penalty try got the ball rolling before Telusa Veainu and Pether Betham crossed in the first-half. Veainu’s individual try secured the bonus point in the second period and Greg Bateman set the seal on the win late on.   Croft said scrum-halves Sam Harrison and Ben Youngs and fly-halves Tommy Bell and Seremaia Bai, did an excellent job orchestrating the win which leaves Tigers top of Pool 4 as the Champions Cup takes a back seat for the next two weeks for the Aviva Premiership.   “I think it was bossed very well by the nines, Sammy (Harrison) and Benny Youngs, Belly at 10 replaced by Sere," said Croft "Those guys bossed the game.   “They let the forwards have a go resulting in the penalty try from the scrum. But when the ball was ready to go that execution of the pick and go and then the nudge from Tommy Bell for Telusa’s first try, was really good.   “That’s what you need, that communication and I think it’s been going well.”   Tigers are return to Welford Road this Sunday when they host Bath Rugby in a 3pm kick-off. Match tickets for the Aviva Premiership clash are available now on 0116 319 8888 (option 2), online by clicking here and from the Welford Road ticket office.
