Award nomination for Wheelchair Rugby Team

The Leicester Tigers Wheelchair Rugby Team have been nominated for one of the top gongs at the Leicester City Sports Awards 2015.The Tigers Wheelchair Rugby Team are shortlisted for the Team of the Year at the annual awards ceremony in at Leicester City Council’s City Hall in Charles Street, Leicester this Thursday (December 3).   The awards aim to recognise teams and sportsmen and women who have demonstrated success, and the unsung heroes who work tirelessly in their communities to deliver sport and physical activity.   The Tigers Wheelchair Rugby Team face competition from the Leicester Bowling Club and Buswells Lodge Primary School.   Leicester assistant city mayor for culture, leisure and sport, Coun Piara Singh Clair, said: “We are all set for another fantastic evening when the city recognises the efforts and achievements of all those who contributed to a memorable year of sporting success in the city.   “The shortlisted candidates all represent people who have dedicated themselves to sport in the city in a variety of different ways, and these awards are a fitting way to celebrate their commitment.”   Nominees cover 12 different categories: • Sports Person of the Year:  Paige Murray, Elliott Powell • Young Sports Person of the Year: Ahmad Saleh, Coby Blue Cartwright, Kareem Queeley • Volunteer of the Year: Bipin Chauhan, David Silvester, Chinna Patel • Young Volunteer of the Year:  James Bennett,  Amar Chudasama • Active Leicester Award:  David Leroy Davies, Nitin Gohil, Josh Baines • Disabled Sportsperson of the Year: Craig Allen, Paige Murray, Chris Mcmillan • Young Disabled Sports Person of the Year: Kuba Martin, Umaymah Dakri • Team of the Year: The Leicester Bowling Club, Buswells Lodge Primary School, Leicester Tigers Wheelchair Rugby • Club of the Year: CKI School of Martial Arts, CFA • Coach of the Year: Ellie and Roger Binks, Ismail Saleh • Community Award: Alan White, CKI School  of Martial Arts • Award for Lifelong Contribution to Sport and Physical Activity in Leicester City: Trevor Low
