Voting for the Goldsmiths Player of the Month is now open with Dan Cole, Telusa Veainu and Tom Youngs on the three-man shortlist.Approaching 150 appearances for Leicester, Cole has been at the heart of Tigers’ form in the Aviva Premiership and Champions Cup. Cole anchored the scrum to good effcet in Thomond Park, Tigers won four penalties from the game’s four scrums and he was to the fore in the fightback at Worcester Warriors in Aviva Premiership Round 6. He also scored a crucial try in the win against Bath, his first for the club in four years.
Tonga international Veainu made 150 metres in the Aviva Premiership win at Worcester Warriors, the most by any player in Round 6 of the competition, including a 40m run to the line for his fifth Tigers try. He was in sparkling form in the win away to Munster too, making 65 metres from his eight carries, the most by a Tigers player at Thomond Park.
This is a second successive Goldsmiths Player of the Month nomination for Youngs. The England international hooker was in typical all-action form in the win at Thomond Park, enjoying a 100 per cent success rate in the lineout, making seven carries, and effecting 16 tackles, the most by any player on either side.
