Leicester Tigers flanker Will Evans will make his England Under-20s debut in the second match of the World Rugby Under-20 Championship, against Scotland at Manchester City Academy Stadium on Saturday.
After a 48-10 victory over Italy in the opening game in Pool B, Evans comes in as one of five changes to the line-up.
Jack Walker returns as captain, while Evans and wing Matt Gallagher are given a first game at this level.
Head coach Martin Haag said: “I’m delighted with how we are developing as a squad. The attitude and way the boys approach training has been spot-on, we need to transfer that on to the field of play.
“Matt and Will deserve their first opportunity at this level. They’ve looked very good in training and we want to share the workload as it’s a tough tournament, so we have made a couple of changes. Giving guys experience is vital for their development and I’m excited to see them play.”
Harry Mallinder switches to fly-half from inside centre following a foot injury to Theo Brophy Clews against Italy. Brophy Clews can play no further part in the tournament and has been replaced in the squad by Max Wright of Yorkshire Carnegie.
Scotland kicked off their championship with a 15-10 win over Australia on Tuesday and also beat England in the Six Nations this year.
