Opeti Fonua and summer signing JP Pietersen were among the try-scorers for their countries in the final weekend of action in the 2015/16 season.

While Tigers prop Dan Cole scored a try in England's third Test win over Australia, club colleague Fonua came off the bench to score Tonga’s only try in a 30-10 defeat by Samoa in a Pacific Nations Cup match on Saturday.

Samoa had raced into a 23-3 lead by half-time, scoring 17 points during their period when Tonga were down to 14 men after a yellow card for wing Otulea Katoa.

Man-of-the-match Pietersen, who will join the Tigers at the conclusion of his commitments in the southern hemisphere, claimed a first-half try in South Africa’s 19-13 victory over Ireland in Port Elizabeth which clinched a 2-1 series triumph.

His try came after a cross kick from fly-half Elton Jantjies at the end of the first half which established a three-point lead.
