The Ellipsis added to Tigers in the Park

Indie-rock band The Ellipsis will perform at this season's Tigers in the Park.

The highly-rated four-piece have been added to the bill for the free community event, which launches Tigers’ home Aviva Premiership campaign on Saturday, September 10.

Now in its fifth year, Tigers in the Park will be hosted at Nelson Mandela Park opposite Welford Road stadium.

The Ellipsis have enjoyed airplay on BBC Radio 1 and Kerrang Radio, and opened Coventry’s Godiva Festival this year, Britain’s largest free music event, and played at Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds after-show party in Liverpool during their recent tour.

Bassist Harry Green, who visited Welford Road recently to meet Tigers in the Park organisers, said: “I am so excited to be performing on the day and to be associated with such a successful team.

“I’ve been to this stadium many times before but to get the guided tour and meet the staff is amazing.”

Tigers in the Park will be headlined by the Black Eagles, an acrobatic group from east Africa who have performed at the Glastonbury Festival, the Queen's Jubilee celebrations and at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester.

There will also be activities and attractions – including inflatables, the Big Boot and the Speed Pass Challenge - from 11am until kick-off at 3pm. That's four hours of free entertainment for the whole family.

The fans' food court will be back for picnics on the park and there will be player appearances throughout the day.

Young supporters have a chance to experience the magic of running out on the Welford Road pitch as part of the Junior Tigers Club activities on the day.
