Tigers returned to Jersey as part of this year’s summer Rugby Camps, in association with Ashburton Investments who are marking their tenth anniversary of supporting the initiative this year.

Two young players taking part in the tag Rugby Camp were recognised for their enjoyment, how they improve and overall attitude over the week.

The under-7s player of the week was Safiya Slater, coach Steven Baker said: “Safiya is a great girl who was very nervous on the first day and showed some great skills, speed and confidence as the week progressed.”

Louis Pallant was awarded under-8s player of the week, Baker said: “Louis is a true rugby player on and off the pitch. He worked hard for himself and others, helped out with no fuss all week whilst showing great rugby ability at the same time!”

Tigers Rugby Camps included tag rugby and contact camps open to all young players age six to thirteen who would like to improve their skills with the help of professional coaches.

“We had a great group of 28 players who have shown great enthusiasm all week. It's been great to see them improve over the week and get to play in a round robin of matches to finish off their week with us,” said coach Steven Baker.

Anthony Allen, former England international and now senior academy coach at Tigers also attended to pass on insights from his decade as professional rugby player at the highest level.

This popular activity week, which is celebrating a milestone anniversary this year, has become a favourite for children of Jersey who are keen to learn from the most successful rugby team in the modern era. For a decade now, Ashburton Investments have sponsored the rugby camps, playing a significant role in developing young rugby talent in the Island.
