Leicester Tigers have been asking fans to vote for their favourite international Tigers player on the club's Twitter account.

Today (Friday, July 29) marks International Tiger Day, which aims to raise awareness of tiger conservation and to celebrate the tiger.

The hashtag #InternationalTigerDay has been trending on Twitter throughout the day, and the club has played its part too by celebrating famous international Tigers players.

Tigers ran a series of polls on Twitter to find supporters’ favourite former player who was capped by his country while playing for the club.

The first poll saw Italy’s Martin Castrogiovanni finish ahead of former England captain Paul Dodge, World Cup winner Ben Kay and former England centre and coach Clive Woodward.

Poll two featured British & Irish Lion Austin Healey, World Cup winners Martin Johnson and Lewis Moody and Samoa winger Alesana Tuilagi, and was won by Johnno.

Neil Back, Geordan Murphy, Prince Obolensky and Peter Wheeler contested poll three, which was won by Murphy. Poll four, meanwhile, was between Martin Corry, Dean Richards, Graham Rowntree and Rory Underwood, with Underwood narrowly beating Corry and Richards in the vote.

The winner from each of the four polls went through to the semi-finals, where Johnson received 80 per cent of the votes to see of Castrogiovanni and Murphy booked his place in the final at the expense of Underwood.

The final was won by Johnson, who polled 71 per cent of the votes to be crowned supporters' favourite Tigers international.
