Tigers in the Park will have a Rio Carnival theme as Tigers bring a taste of the Olympics to the opening home game of the season.
Tigers kick off their home Aviva Premiership campaign against Wasps at Welford Road on Saturday, September 10 (3pm).
Nelson Mandela Park, opposite the stadium, will host Tigers in the Park with the Samba Stage providing a focal point for the day.
Sambando, who were visitors to Welford Road last season for the home game against Gloucester Rugby in April, have been added to the bill. They will be performing their Brazilian-style street music on the Samba Stage and around the ground.
Original Hip Hop Movements, from Hinckley, will also perform at Tigers in the Park and on the pitch before kick-off, and there will be a set from local band The Ellipsis and a headline performance by acrobatic group the Black Eagles.
Tigers are giving local acts the chance to perform on the Samba Stage by taking part in the club’s Battle of the Bands.
To be in with a chance of winning, performers can share a link or upload a video to the Tigers Facebook page at www.facebook.com/leicestertigers The Tigers in the Park team will select a winner from the entries to perform at the event.
There will also be a Copacabana Area, with a beach area, beach volleyball, a surf simulator and other inflatables and activities.
And in keeping with an Olympics year, there will be an Olympic Park where fans can try a range a of Olympics sports, including tag rugby.
