Nottingham fixture moved to Oval Park

Leicester Tigers have been forced to move the pre-season fixture against Nottingham Rugby.

Tigers are installing a new hybrid pitch and drainage system at Welford Road in time for the new season.

Work began last week and, with a tight timescale until the pre-season fixture on Friday, August 26, Tigers are unable to play two games in one day on the new turf and have been forced to move the Nottingham fixture in order to give the pitch chance to take. The game against Ospreys remains a 7.45pm kick-off at Welford Road.

The game against Nottingham will now take place at Oval Park, the Tigers training ground, in Wigston Road, Oadby, on Friday, August 26 (kick-off 4pm).

Capacity at Oval Park will be extremely limited and supporters of both Tigers and Nottingham who want to attend the game are asked to register for tickets by clicking here. If the game is oversubscribed, tickets will be allocated via a ballot. Registration closes at 5pm on Friday, August 19.

Please note there is no seating at Oval Park.

The game against Ospreys remains a 7.45pm kick-off at Welford Road. All previously purchased tickets remain valid, including Nottingham season tickets. Match tickets are on general sale now and this fixture is included in all Tigers season tickets.

Simon Cohen, Tigers chief executive, said: “We appreciate this may disappoint some supporters and also Nottingham players and fans and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

“We have been forced to take this decision to help provide the best possible playing surface at Welford Road ahead of the opening game of the Aviva Premiership season, against Wasps on Saturday, September 10.”

All tickets previously purchased for the Tigers versus Ospreys fixture remain valid. Match tickets are still on sale at the Tigers ticket office. Book in person at the Welford Road ticket office, phone 0116 319 8888 (option 2) or book online by clicking here.

There will be a change to the itinerary for the curry buffet in the Honours Suite in the new Holland & Barrett Stand. The room will now open at 5.45pm with dinner to be served at 6pm.

The curry buffet is to include poppadoms and pickles; onion bhaji and vegetable samosa starters; lamb rogan josh, chicken jalfrezi and vegetable Balti main courses plus rice and naan breads.

There will also be complimentary tea and coffee, a cash bar, a Q&A with a Tigers player and reserved padded seating towards the centre of the Holland & Barrett Stand.

The package is priced £35 per person for season ticket holders and members (including VAT), including Nottingham Rugby season ticket holders, and £50 per person (including VAT) for all other supporters.

For more information or to take advantage of the offer, contact the Tigers ticket office on 0116 319 8888 (option 2).
