Leicester Tigers and Aggregate Industries are delighted to announce a new community programme aimed at promoting healthy lifestyle, teamwork and self-confidence in young people across the Midlands.

The Concrete Rugby programme will see Tigers players and staff lead training schemes to around 1,000 students aged 11-14, spreading the ethos of teamwork, respect, discipline and sportsmanship, all while having fun.

Supported by Aggregate Industries colleagues, Concrete Rugby will be a positive, exciting opportunity for young people to experience a new sport and learn new skills. Sessions will include discussions about a wide range of issues, from staying safe online to healthy eating.

Managing director for Readymix Concrete and Asphalt, Chris Hudson, said: “We at Aggregate Industries are delighted to be working in partnership with Leicester Tigers to deliver the Concrete Rugby programme to young people who may never have had the chance to play the sport before.

“We have a long history of supporting Leicester Tigers and this partnership is a new chapter in that relationship. Concrete Rugby will be an excellent programme for helping young, local people become ever more rounded individuals with a passion for living and teamwork - exactly the ethos we encourage in our colleagues. We can’t wait to get started and look forward to an exciting year ahead.”

Leicester Tigers chief executive Simon Cohen said: “We are delighted to renew our relationship with Aggregate Industries and to launch a new programme which we both feel will play a big part in the community, promoting the ethos of the game of rugby and bringing the game to young people who may not have had the opportunity before.”
