Tom Youngs praised the Leicester Tigers squad for staying in the fight after their remarkable comeback against Gloucester Rugby on Friday.

Tigers did it the hard way at Kingsholm, coming back from 31-7 down to win 38-37 with four tries in the final 35 minutes.

It gave Tigers a winning start to their Aviva Premiership campaign for a fifth successive season and with it a valuable try bonus point.

Captain Youngs said: "There is a strong bond in the squad. Something we have been working on for the last nine weeks has been our resilience and staying in the fight. We did that well.

“I would rather not get in that situation. I think we could have controlled the first 45 minutes a lot better but credit to everyone for staying in the fight, digging in and showing great resilience.”

Tigers return to Welford Road on Saturday for their first home game of the season. Wasps are the visitors in a 3pm kick-off and Youngs said: “It’s another massive game.

“It will be nice to get back home and we will be trying to perform like the last 35 minutes!”
