Cockerill: We're looking after Manu

Richard Cockerill says he hopes to see Manu Tuilagi back in action with Leicester Tigers in "six to eight weeks".

International centre Tuilagi scored a try in the win at Gloucester on the opening day of the Aviva Premiership season but has not played since due to a groin issue.

“He still has a tight groin and we’re looking after him,” said director of rugby Cockerill.

“I’m hoping that in six to eight weeks he will be back on the field.

“It’s tough for Manu, tough for everybody because he is a world-class player and we want him on the field. But we will support him. His groin is not right and we are going to get it right. When it is right he will play.

“We just want to make sure it is done with when he comes back. He is working really hard, he is in good shape and his attitude is brilliant. We just have to be patient.”

Summer signing Pat Cilliers has had his start to the season delayed by a groin injury and Tom Croft has had a back problem during the early weeks of the campaign.

Dom Barrow took a bang on the head in the win at Gloucester and is working his way back to full fitness.

Logovi’i Mulipola and summer arrival Tom Brady have played both games in the Premiership ‘A’ League after injury, and Michele Rizzo has also played twice after missing the whole of last season with a knee injury.
