Unlucky WIlliams sidelined with arm injury

Leicester Tigers have confirmed that forward Mike Williams has suffered a broken arm.

Williams, who suffered the same injury twice last season, has been in eye-catching form at the start of the new season and has been part of the England training squad ahead of the autumn series.

But he was withdrawn from Saturday’s win over Worcester Warriors after suffering an arm injury in the team warm-up and is now in a cast.

“He came in after the warm-up and felt he had done something to it in the tackling drill,” said director of rugby Richard Cockerill. “The medical guys had a look and he was pulled just before kick-off, which is not ideal but it is better than playing with a broken arm.

“Mike is bitterly disappointed because he is just back playing for us and playing well, and he was obviously in the frame with England. It is just bad luck. He is in a cast and we will take advice from the specialists on the right thing to do now.”
