Welford Road welcomed business leaders from across the region for the HUDDLE this week, with keynote speeches, panel masterclasses and networking opportunities throughout the day.
Former Conservative Party leader, the Rt Hon Iain Duncan Smith MP was among the keynote speakers, on the subject of Brexit, while also joining a panel discussing the Apprenticeship Levy.
Bookmaker Paddy Power was a popular speaker on the subject of Mischief Marketing, while Shaun Pulfrey presented the entrepreneur’s story behind the Tangle Teezer brand which survived rejection from TV’s Dragons Den to become a multi-million-pound international business.
Masterclass panel members during the day also included Wing Commander Nikki Thomas, the RAF’s first female commander of a Tornado bomber squadron; Duncan Green, managing partner of construction consultants Pick Everard and chairman of Perfect Circle; Adam McEvoy-Robinson of apprenticeship providers 3aaa; Stuart Robertson from Hampshire County Cricket Club; Ian Mattioli, of wealth management experts Mattioli Woods; and Helen Donnelan, head of inward investment at Leicester City Council.

Tigers chief executive Simon Cohen, in his welcome notes at the start of the day, said: “It is a real pleasure to open our second HUDDLE event this year. When you have a second event it means the first one went well and last year we enjoyed extremely interesting speakers, panels and interaction, and everybody learned a lot from it.
“Sport is a business and particularly for a rugby club like the Tigers in the centre of the city. We have been for many years the hub of the community both in terms of supporters and in terms of business.
“Leicester is a great place to be, with a real buzz about the city. There is a huge momentum about what is happening in the city and sport is obviously a major part of that.”
