England can get even better, says Youngs

Ben Youngs says England can get even better after recording a first victory over South Africa in 10 years.

Youngs was voted man-of-the-match by England supporters following a brilliant individual display in the 37-21 win at Twickenham on Saturday.

The Leicester Tigers scrum-half caused the Springboks problems all game and his darting runs created tries for George Ford and Owen Farrell.

It was a first win for Youngs and Tigers teammate Dan Cole for England against South Africa, and Youngs said: “The team were spot on in terms of their application this week.

“We have had a long time building towards this, from the Brighton camp, Portugal to this week. To finally get out on the field was great.

“There is still plenty to work on, ball control being one of them. Discipline is certainly an element that we need to address.

“If we rectified those bits then we might have put them under pressure a little bit earlier.

“The main thing is we are building towards where we want to get to and this is another step.”

Youngs, Cole and Ellis Genge are among the 33 players who will reassemble at Pennyhill Park today (Monday, November 14) to train for Saturday's Old Mutual Wealth Series game against Fiji at Twickenham.
