Prima teams share Tigers spotlight

Welford Road welcomed eight teams in the Prima Tiger Bowl and Shield on Saturday at the final whistle in the Leicester Tigers bonus-point win over visitors Newport Gwent Dragons.

Supported by Prima Solutions of Loughborough, the Prima Tiger Cup is a free-to-enter contact-based fun event open to all clubs at under-10 level and attracts more than 70 entries each year.

During four festivals covering the Tigers academy region and beyond, the Tigers look to identify clubs who demonstrate the true ethos of the game under event criteria in keeping with the RFU Age Grade Rules and guidelines.

A number of teams are then invited to play at Welford Road on the day of a first-team fixture in the Prima Tiger Cup, Bowl and Shield events, providing a fantastic experience to young and aspiring players.

On Saturday, Welford Road hosted teams from Kenilworth, Spalding St Neots and West Bridgford in the Prima Tiger Bowl and sides representing Hinckley, Market Rasen & Louth, Mellish and Oakham in the Prima Tiger Shield on the same afternoon as Tigers beat Anglo-Welsh visitors Newport Gwent Dragons.

Kenilworth and Oakham have been invited back to play at the Prima Tiger Cup Celebration Day later in the season.

Another group of teams take part in the Prima Tigers Cup at Welford Road ahead of the Aviva Premiership match against Harlequins this Sunday.

Places in the Prima Tiger Cup are limited, to register your interest or for any further enquiries, please email [email protected] or visit www.leicestertigers.com/community/prima_tigers_cup
