Lesson in retaining intensity says Youngs

Ben Youngs says England could have been "even more ruthless" after extending their winning run to 12 games with a 58-15 victory over Fiji on Saturday.

Following up the win over South Africa in the opening Test of the autumn, England ran in nine tries to defeat Fiji at Twickenham Stadium.

Leicester Tigers scrum-half Ben Youngs earned his 62nd England cap, sharing the win with club colleague Dan Cole.

Youngs told the English Rugby Podcast: “On the positive side, we put Fiji under a lot of pressure and we executed a fair amount of times and came away with nine tries.

“We controlled it all right but could be a bit more ruthless when we got the chance. We got nine tries but we probably could have got even more.

“It’s the first time with this group under Eddie Jones where we have been that far ahead at 30 minutes and trying to keep the intensity is a lesson for us – how to keep that intensity and ruthlessness.”

England face Argentina in the third match of the autumn series next Saturday.

“We’ve had a great start,” said Youngs. “But there is certainly more to come.”
