Prima Tiger Cup action at Welford Road

Welford Road welcomed another eight under-10s teams for the Prima Tiger Cup on Sunday.

Supported by Prima Solutions of Loughborough, the Prima Tiger Cup is a free-to-enter contact-based fun event open to all clubs at under-10s level and takes place over four festivals covering the Tigers academy region and beyond. Throughout these festivals the Tigers look to identify clubs who demonstrate the true ethos of the game under our event criteria in keeping with the RFU Age Grade Rules and guidelines.

Teams are then invited to play at Welford Road ahead of a senior fixture in the Prima Tiger Cup, Bowl and Shield events, providing a fantastic experience to young and aspiring players.

Two groups of teams have already taken part in the Prima Tiger Bowl and Shield, played on the same day as Tigers versus Racing 92 in the European Champions Cup and against Newport Gwent Dragons in the Anglo-Welsh Cup.

On Sunday, Welford Road hosted a third group including Barker Butts, Leicester Forest, Nottingham Corsairs, Sandbach, Shipston-on-Stour, Silhillians, Stamford and Sudbury who shared in matchday as part of a 25,000-strong crowd and then played in their Prima Tiger Cup fixtures.

Nottingham Corsairs and Stamford have been invited back to play at the Prima Tiger Cup Celebration Day in April. They join Kenilworth and Southwold who play in the Prima Tiger Bowl, and Bournville and Oakham in the Prima Tiger Shield, to be held on the day of the first-team fixture against Newcastle Falcons.

Places in the Prima Tiger Cup are limited, to register your interest or for any further enquiries, please email [email protected] or visit www.leicestertigers.com/community/prima_tigers_cup
