Matchday guide: It's Derby Day

Figure image
It's Derby Day at Welford Road on Saturday and we've got a big day in store on and off the field. Here is our guide to getting the most out of your day.

Leicester Tigers host Northampton Saints in Aviva Premiership Rugby at 5.00pm, but there is international rugby on the big screens at Welford Road from 2.30pm as England face Australia in the final Test of the autumn series.

Watch full live coverage from England-Australia in big screens in the Final Whistle – and the pitch screens will be in action too when turnstiles open at 3.30pm if you want to watch from your place in the stadium.

There is also an eight-metre screen on the plaza outside the Holland & Barrett Stand so you won’t have to miss out on a single second of a big day of rugby.

The Tigers Club Store is open from 9am – come down and do some Christmas shopping. The ticket office is also open from 9am.

The Junior Tigers Club, with activities for young supporters and an opportunity to run out in front of a big home crowd as a matchday mascot or Tiger Cub, is open from 3.00pm.

Turnstiles, and internal bars and food kiosks throughout the stadium open at 3.30pm, including the new 96 Coffee By Numbers kiosk in Final Whistle with the best in coffee and doughnuts – and owned by Tom Croft and Ben Youngs.

Team news from both camps is announced at noon on Friday. Look out for updates on the Tigers club website and social media channels.

Tigers are delighted to welcome Seb Goold and everyone from the Seb Goold Trust on Saturday as an official club charity. Seb is a remarkable young man and the Trust will be promoting their Safer Coaches campaign throughout the day. Click here for full details and to find out how to show your support.

This week’s 100-page match programme includes an interview with Mathew Tait and Greg Bateman, the self-styled Swiss Army Knives of the squad, plus the Tigers Tea-Break Interview with Brendon O’Connor and Lachlan McCaffrey, and all the news from the Tigers. Pick up your copy around the stadium, price £3.

A Fan Radio service is available at Welford Road with referee microphone on one channel and match commentary on the other. Units cost £15 for the whole season. Buy yours in the Club Store or shop kiosks around the stadium.

At half-time, we’ll have two teams going head to head in the Ultimate Big Boot, sponsored by De Montfort University. We will also reveal the name of the Lumbers Player of the Month award and the name of a season ticket winner in the TigersLotto.

Official matchday bus services run by Centrebus are in operation on four routes. There is also a separate supporters’ bus available from Rugby and Lutterworth. For more information on Tigers travel, and this week’s timetable, please click here.

And the action doesn’t stop with the final whistle as we’ll have live music from Rock Bottom and the ticket office and club store will remain open for an hour after the match.

Tickets for Saturday and home games against Munster on December 17 and Saracens on New Year’s Day are still on general sale now and can be booked at the ticket office this weekend.

Or treat yourself – or someone else this Christmas – with a Tigers Half Season Ticket to cover entry to the last seven home games of the regular season with prices from £125 adults, £55 juniors.

The ticket office is open 9am-5pm Monday-Saturday and for an hour after the game. Book in person at Welford Road or phone 0116 319 8888 (option 2). Or click here to book online any time. There is a print-at-home option for all tickets bought online.

If you are picking up any pre-paid match tickets on your way to the game, the Collection Point is based on the plaza outside main reception.

If you are attending the game, don't forget to click 'Going' on the Tigers Facebook page and you could be in line for a fabulous prize.

See you on Saturday!
