Matchday guide: Tigers v Munster

European Champions Cup rugby returns to Welford Road this Saturday as Leicester Tigers host Munster Rugby, with the added bonus of Christmas attractions for supporters.

As winners of the European Cup on two occasions each, both sides have huge pedigree in the competition and have met in some memorable matches over the last decade and more. Now, with vital points in Pool 1 at stake, another classic encounter is in store.
 
The Tigers Club Store is open from 9am – perfect for your last-minute Christmas shopping – and the ticket office at Welford Road is also open from 9am.
 
The Junior Tigers Club, with activities for young supporters and an opportunity to run out in front of a big home crowd as a matchday mascot or Tiger Cub, is open from 12.30pm with a special appearance from Santa. Young supporters will also be able to decorate Christmas cookies and take part in Christmas crafts.
 
The plaza outside the Holland & Barrett Stand will host an inflatable snow globe where supporters can take photos and have them printed as souvenirs, and we’ll have Christmas photo props too in The Maul.
 
There is also a rodeo reindeer, a Christmas karaoke machine and music from Kibworth Ladies Choir.
 
Nottingham Building Society are hosting a treasure hunt for young fans and STIHL’s Lumber Jack mascot will joining supporters for the day with some great giveaways too.
 
Christmas food and drink, including mince pies and mulled wine, will be available around the stadium and on the plaza.
 
Turnstiles, and all internal bars and food kiosks open at 1.45pm, including the ‘96 Coffee By Numbers’ kiosk in Final Whistle with coffee and doughnuts – and owned by Tom Croft and Ben Youngs.
 
Team news from both camps is announced at noon on Friday. Look out for updates on the Tigers club website and social media channels.
 
This week’s 100-page match programme includes our festive feature known as Three Wise Men (and One Scrooge) from inside the Tigers camp, plus a full guide to the Champions Cup and visitors Munster, and all the news from the Tigers. Pick up your copy around the stadium, price £3.
 
A Fan Radio service is available at Welford Road with referee microphone on one channel and match commentary on the other. Units cost £15 for the whole season. Buy your set in the Club Store or shop kiosks around the stadium.
 
Half-time entertainment includes a Christmas edition of The Ultimate Big Boot with four contestants selected in a Facebook competition having the chance to win a Tigers Christmas pack, and Kibworth Ladies Choir will lead the carol singing. We will also reveal the name of a season ticket winner in the TigersLotto.
 
There will also be a chance to grab a special gift if you keep your eye out for the T-shirt cannons pitchside!
 
Official matchday bus services run by Centrebus are in operation on four routes. There is also a separate supporters’ bus available from Rugby and Lutterworth. For more information on Tigers travel, and this week’s timetable, please click here.
 
And the action doesn’t stop with the final whistle as we’ll have live music from Rock Bottom and the ticket office and club store will remain open for an hour after the match.
 
Tickets for Saturday - and the home game against Saracens on New Year’s Day - are on general sale and can be booked at the ticket office now.
