Join three famous Welford Road families

There is still time to book places at a unique and unmissable evening in the company of two generations of Leicester Tigers players during our Beers With The Boys night on January 17.

This event brings together three sets of lads and dads with more than 1,000 appearances for the club between them.

Tom and Ben Youngs will join their dad Nick, the former Tigers and England scrum-half, while we also welcome Matt Smith and Ian’ Dosser’ Smith, the former Tigers coach and captain; and Harry Thacker and one-time Tigers hooker Troy Thacker for this special supporters’ event.

There will be plenty to talk about, comparing the two generations of players, growing up in a Tigers family and following in the footsteps of respected players at such a big club.

Nick, Ian and Troy will be able to recall touring with Tigers and managing to find a balance between their full-time jobs and rugby careers in the amateur era, as well as their links with the game once they hung up their boots, while their sons will be able to talk about the development of Premiership and European rugby, the pressures of a professional game and how they manage to relax during downtime in a hectic calendar.

If you want to compare and contrast two generations of the players and two eras in the sport, this is the perfect evening for you.

Beers With The Boys is at Welford Road on Tuesday, January 17 and tickets are available now, price £20 including a pie and a pint.

Book at the Tigers ticket office. Call in at Welford Road, phone 0116 319 8888 (option 2) (open 9am-5pm Monday-Saturday and for an hour after the final whistle at any home game), or book online any time by clicking here.

The opening supporters’ night of the season was in the company of Richard Cockerill and Aaron Mauger who took fans behind the scenes in describing the work that goes into getting a team on to the pitch in the professional game.

And don’t forget tickets are already available for the end-of-season Awards Night in the company of the first-team squad and coaching team.
