Leicester Tigers have secured a new partnership with BGL Group as sponsors of the Guard of Honour on matchdays at Welford Road.
BGL Group is one of the UK’s largest consumer insurance groups and will add branding to the flags and T-shirts for groups performing the Guard of Honour, welcoming the teams on to the pitch in front of a big Welford Road crowd.
The branding was unveiled for the first home game of 2017 when young players from Tamworth Rugby Club had the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of legends on the Welford Road pitch, welcoming the players as Tigers and Saracens fought out a tight league encounter.
Guard of Honour groups fly the flag in the moments building up to kick-off and welcome both teams in front of a roar from a 20,000-plus crowd. No one in the stadium gets as close to taking a pass, making a tackle or catching a high ball.
Andy Dickie, coach from Tamworth, accompanied the players on to the pitch and said: “It’s a fantastic experience and we’ve been so excited to come here.
“This is the best Christmas present for our players and they’ve been so excited. We’ve also got some of our under-15s girls here so it hopefully inspires more girls to play too.”
