Team news: Anglo-Welsh Cup

Figure image
New signing Maxime Mermoz goes straight into the Leicester Tigers squad for the Anglo-Welsh Cup fixture against Saracens on Sunday.

Tigers travel to Allianz Park with a place in the semi-finals of the tournament already assured but with both teams still chasing the points necessary to book a home tie in the last four.

France international centre Mermoz arrived at Welford Road this week as an  injury dispensation signing and is included among the replacements for Sunday.

Pat Cilliers and George McGuigan are called into the front row alongside Michele Rizzo who made his return to first-team action after a lengthy injury absence in the Round 3 win over Northampton Saints last weekend. Harry Thacker makes his 50th Tigers appearance on Sunday and moves to the back row alongside Tom Croft and Luke Hamilton.

Peter Betham and Freddie Burns come into the backline after sitting out the Round 3 meeting with Saints, while Sam Harrison returns at scrum-half and George Worth starts at full-back.

Brendon O’Connor is named among the replacements on his return from injury and there is also a place for Mike Williams who has been released from England’s Six Nations squad.

Tickets for Sunday's match are still available from the host club.
