X Factor winner Sam Bailey thanked supporters for their warm welcome to Welford Road after she performed at her first Leicester Tigers game.

Sam, who lives in Leicestershire, entertained fans by singing Somebody Else’s Guy before kick-off on Saturday’s Aviva Premiership game with Bristol Rugby and No Tomorrow during half-time.

She also met the squad after full-time and sang happy birthday to Harry Thacker on the occasion of his 23rd birthday.

“It was my first time watching a game at Welford Road and it was brilliant,” said Sam, who shot to fame when she won the tenth series of X Factor in 2013. “Everyone loves a party – they made me feel really welcome.

“I don’t quite get the rules, I was asking a lot of questions, but it was great to see so many tries.

“It was a really fantastic atmosphere, family-orientated and I really enjoyed it.”

Afterwards, she posted on Twitter: “Thanks @LeicesterTigers for a great day and congrats on ur win!Ps, happy birthday harry! Hope u enjoyed my awkward singin in changin room!”

It was the second time Sam has sung at Welford Road. She performed at the Leicester Music Festival in the summer of 2014 alongside the likes of Labrinth, Tinie Tempah and Professor Green.

Sam, who achieved Christmas number one in 2013 with her debut single Skyscraper and had her debut album The Power of Love also go to number one in March 2014, embarks on a UK tour in March. Click here for more details.
