Youngs hails Calcutta Cup performance

Ben Youngs says England produced a complete performance in beating Scotland 61-21 to retain their Six Nations title and win the Calcutta Cup.

England scored seven tries, including a hat-trick for Jonathan Joseph, in recording their highest score and their biggest winning margin against Scotland. They also equalled New Zealand’s world record of 18 consecutive Test wins.

Youngs said: “Although JJ was superb in some of his individual touches and finishes, I thought it was a complete team performance.

“Some of the set-piece work, breakdown work, and all those bits, I just felt it was a real complete team performance.”

England face Ireland in Dublin next weekend targeting back-to-back Grand Slams and a world record of 19 Test wins.

Youngs said: “Eddie will make sure we continue to build towards what we want to be and that is the No1 team in the world. We have an opportunity next week to enforce that.

“We are, as a group, determined to go again next week and really take it another step further.”
