Team news: Derby day against Saints

Six Nations champions Ben Youngs and Dan Cole return to the Leicester Tigers team for Saturday's Aviva Premiership derby against Northampton Saints.

Scrum-half Youngs and prop Cole played in all five games in England’s Championship-winning campaign and reported back for club duties earlier this week.

Four players – Mathew Tait, Freddie Burns, Ellis Genge and Graham Kitchener – are retained from the team that started last Sunday’s Anglo-Welsh Cup Final victory, with Telusa Veainu, Maxime Mermoz and JP Pietersen among those recalled for derby day at Franklin’s Gardens.

Aaron Mauger, in charge of the team for a final time as head coach, said: “It’s always a big battle with Saints. They haven’t played for a couple of weeks, so they will be fresh and up for it. We’re on a six-day turnaround and the high of winning the Cup last Sunday but we’ve managed the squad through this period. Our guys know what is coming and we’re really excited by the challenge.”
