Harry Wells has been voted the Lumbers Player of the Month for March.

Wells, who was named on the bench for Saturday’s Aviva Premiership game against Newcastle Falcons at Welford Road, has won the award for the first time after being a central figure throughout the Anglo-Welsh Cup success.

The second-rower made the second-highest number of tackles in the final win over Exeter Chiefs (21) and across the whole Anglo-Welsh Cup campaign (68). He also made four turnovers in the competition, the eighth highest.

He finished ahead of Luke Hamilton and Maxime Mermoz in the supporter vote and was announced as the winner during half-time of the game against Newcastle.

Previous winners of the award this season are Hamilton, Adam Thompstone, Freddie Burns and Jack Roberts.

Established in 1881, Lumbers jewellers have been at the heart of Leicester for more than 135 years - just like the Tigers - and are the new sponsors of the monthly award.

The Lumbers team offers unparalleled service and knowledge for clients at their new premises in High Street, Leicester, with an extensive range of services including jewellery and watch repairs, valuations and engraving.
