Ellis Genge has been included in a 31-man England squad for the summer tour to Argentina.

The 22-year-old Leicester Tigers loosehead prop won his first cap against Wales at the end of last season before joining England’s tour party to Australia and has trained with the national squad during the Six Nations period this season.

Fly-half George Ford, who joins Tigers after the tour in the build-up to the new season, is among the tour vice-captains in a party led by Dylan Hartley.

The squad for a two-Test tour in June includes 15 uncapped players. In the pack, props Will Collier and Harry Williams are joined by second-row Nick Isiekwe and back-row Sam Underhill as well as brothers Ben and Tom Curry.  Scrum half Jack Maunder receives his first call-up alongside fly-half Piers Francis, Alex Lozowski, Harry Mallinder, Joe Marchant, Sam James, Denny Solomona, Nathan Earle and Joe Cokanasiga.

The squad will assemble on Sunday, May 29 to begin their preparations for the tour which sees England play in San Juan on June 10 and in Sante Fe a week later.

With forwards coach Steve Borthwick on the Lions tour to New Zealand, Jones will take responsibility for the forwards, supported by scrum coach Neal Hatley. Defence coach Paul Gustard adds the line-out and kick-off to his role and Glen Ella will link-up with the squad to assist Jones with the attack. The former Wallaby will be supported by skills coach Rory Teague.

“We have picked the best squad we have available and we are looking forward to going to Argentina and winning 2-0,” said England head coach Jones.

“The squad have a great opportunity to represent their country and win for England. There are a few new faces in the set-up so every training session and team meeting will count.

“The Pumas are a physically aggressive side and they have become very good at playing unstructured rugby. We need to make sure we control the structural part of the game and our defence will play an absolutely crucial role.”
