Leicester Tigers wheelchair rugby captain James Price will represent British Athletics at the World Para Athletics Marathon Cup on Sunday in London.

The event, which is incorporated into the Virgin Money London Marathon, will see debutant Price join five para athletes to take part in a series of elite wheelchair races.

He represents Great Britain in the T52 Elite Wheelchair event alongside proven racer Rob Smith. The T52 event recognises the classification of functional mobility for athletes.

Sunday’s marathon will be Price’s second ever marathon after setting a time of 2:24.03 in Dubai last year.

James said: “It’s a real honour to be selected by British Athletics and I can’t wait for Sunday. Training has been going well and I’ve had an excellent team around me to help me prepare. The event will be against some of the sports top para athletes so I’m really looking forward to seeing how I fair against some of the best in the world.

Although not officially fundraising through the London Marathon, James is supporting Regain – a charity that help people who have had life changing spinal injuries / broken neck injuries through playing sport. You can donate to his JustGiving page at www.justgiving.com/pr1cey
