The Next retail chain was launched in February 1982 and the first store opened with an exclusive coordinated collection of own branded womenswear, shoes and accessories, with the addition of menswear in (1984), home (1985) and childrenswear in (1987), Next swiftly became a full-line lifestyle brand.
In 1988 the launch of the Next Directory heralded a new standard in home shopping and in 1999 Next introduced its online version of the Next Directory - the online version sold the standard high quality, own branded range of clothing for both genders as well as Next's popular line of women's and men's shoes.
Since then the launch of Flowers (2001), gift list service (2005), sports (2010), Other specialist products areas including electrical, designer branded fashion and Next's Baby Boutique and in 2008 the group acquired Lipsy, a younger fashion Brand.
Today Next trades from more than 500 stores in the UK and Eire and over 180 stores in more than 30 countries overseas. Over the last few years several larger format stores have opened across the UK and are continuingly opening new stores all over the country including stand alone Home Stores.
