Geordan Murphy played the last 20 minutes of Ireland's win in Bayonne on Thursday as Eddie O'Sullivan's squad received an injury scare just weeks before the start of the Rugby World Cup.
Ireland won the warm-up game 42-6 after a week's training in south-west France, but the result came at a cost with captain Brian O'Driscoll, Denis Leamy and Paddy Wallace picking up injuries.
O'Driscoll will be out for three to four weeks with a fracture to his sinus and a deep laceration under his right eye. Injuries to Leamy and Wallace are not serious.
Denis Hickie grabbed a hat-trick of tries in Ireland's win. Paul O'Connell (2) and Andrew Trimble were the other scorers with Ronan O'Gara contributing 12 points with the boot.
Four Bayonne players were sin-binned in the 80 minutes, as well as two Irish.
Leicester full-back Murphy replaced O'Driscoll after 61 minutes as coach O'Sullivan gave his senior players another run-out in the build-up to the World Cup.
