Tigers' Seru Rabeni has been suspended for 14 weeks by a Rugby Football Union disciplinary hearing for a breach of law 10.4(k) following the Guinness Premiership match against Saracens on March 15.
“We are very disappointed with the judgement,” said Tigers’ head of rugby operations Simon Cohen. “We have 48 hours from receiving the written judgement from which to appeal. As soon as we have that written judgement, we will sit down with our legal team and consider the options available regarding an appeal.”

At the conclusion of Monday night’s hearing at the London Bloomsbury Holiday Inn, Rabeni was found guilty of having made illegal contact with the eye area of an opponent and has been suspended from April 1 until July 7. The timing of the suspension runs until the end of the current domestic season and then takes into account any potential summer appearances for Fiji and the Pacific Islanders.
The case was heard by a panel of His Honour Judge Jeff Blackett (chairman), John Doubleday and Mike Curling.
