Hundreds of youngsters from across the UK are preparing to take part in a festival of rugby this weekend hosted by Leicester Tigers.

Under-11s and under-12s teams from as far apart as the Channel Islands and Staffordshire, and the West Midlands and Norfolk, will compete in the inaugural Land Rover Premiership Cup.

The Land Rover Premiership Cup sees each of the 12 Guinness Premiership clubs host a regional festival in the under-11 and under-12 age groups. Tigers will host their festival at Oakham RFC on Sunday (April 5) between 10am and 2pm.

Scott Clarke, Tigers community manager, said: “We are really looking forward to a day of exciting rugby. It will have a national vibe to it with teams coming from across country to take part.

“We are very grateful to Oakham RFC for hosting the Land Rover Premiership Cup and will wish all of the teams taking part the best of luck. It will be a fantastic opportunity for the young players to showcase their talents.”

There is a huge incentive for all of the teams taking part. The lucky winners and runners-up from each age group will be paraded in front of the Twickenham crowd before the Guinness Premiership Final on Saturday, May 16.

Clarke added: “With such a great prize for the final two teams, the Tigers community team are expecting a fiercely competitive tournament.”
