Back row Ben Muncaster dreams of making as a professional rugby player here at Tigers and has been around the set-up here since the age of 14.
“I was lucky enough to be put forward for a rugby scholarship at school and it was there that Tigers spotted me and picked me up there when I was 14 years old”, Ben says.
“I was then invited to join the DPP team and was then selected for the academy set-up in April 2018.”
Coming from Scotland, Ben didn’t have much choice about the sport he would soon take up – living in close proximity to his local rugby club.
“I lived near my local club when I was a kid and so it’s no surprise I started playing when I was about four or five. My dad enjoys watching but never really played, I joined my local rugby club and loved every minute of it.”
Ben hasn’t always been a forward however, adding: “I was a centre growing up, but I got moved into the back row a couple of years ago as I was losing a bit of pace and getting a bit bigger!
“Frenchman Sébastien Chabal was one of my favourite players growing up. I remember they called him the caveman because of his beard and hair – he’s a scary boy!”
