As a loosehead prop, Boris Stankovich spent seven years at Tigers after a move from Albi in France and became a firm favourite with players and fans alike.
Born in New Zealand, he played at hooker early in his career and had spells with Bath and London Irish before spending five years with Albi, winning promotion to the Top 14 in France in 2005/06 and playing top-flight rugby with them before the switch to Welford Road.
He was among seven Tigers debutants at Bristol on the opening day of the 2007/08 season and ended the season with appearances in the Finals of the Anglo-Welsh Cup and Premiership.
A Premiership finalist in his first four seasons at the club, Stankovich captained Tigers for the first time in a Cup tie at Exeter in January 2011 and marked the occasion with his only try of the season.
He played in the Anglo-Welsh Cup Final win over Northampton in 2011/12 and made a total of 119 appearances for the club before moving to Newport Gwent Dragons in the summer of 2014.
Stankovich started his coaching career with the Dragons and then at Coventry before answering the call to return to Tigers, with special focus on the scrum, after Richard Cockerill’s departure in January 2017.
