Tonga international David Feao arrived in Leicester less than two months after his international debut for the Pacific Island nation and, with the ability to play at both loose and tight head prop, adds invaluable depth to a Tigers squad who farewelled several front-rowers over the summer of 2018.
Originally from Brisbane, Australia, and educated at the same school as Tigers team mate Matt Toomua in the Queensland capital, Feao has made three appearances for Tonga with the most recent against Fiji in Lautoka in June 2018.
Feao’s rugby education was in Brisbane’s club competition with Souths, who boast an impressive list of international alumni including current Tonga coach and World Cup winning Wallaby Toutai Kefu, two-time world champion Tim Horan and more recently Quade Cooper and Samu Kerevi.
A member of Tonga’s U20 World Championship squad in 2010, the 27 year old was a key feature in Brisbane City’s grand final winning National Rugby Championship team in 2014 before moving south to the NSW Country Eagles in 2015, prior to his arrival in France, where he joined La Rochelle in 2016 before moving to Narbonne in Jaunary 2018 as a medical joker.
His father, Willie, was a member of Tonga’s 1995 Rugby World Cup squad.
