Fergus Makepeace follows in the footsteps of international wings Rory and Tony Underwood as a former pupil of Barnard Castle School at Leicester Tigers.

After being introduced to the game as a five-year-old at Barnard Castle RFC, he played fly-half at Barnard Castle School and then joined Uppingham School in Rutland where he ran out at full-back and centre before moving to scrum-half in Year 10 as well as attending the Tigers’ Developing Player Programme centre at Melton Mowbray.

If you could meet a famous person, dead or alive, who would it be?
Muhammad Ali, he’s a huge iconic figure of the 20th Century and it would be very interesting to talk to him.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why?
Ability to teleport to wherever you want because it would help with my time-keeping.

Who was your favourite rugby player growing up?
Jonny Wilkinson was an excellent player and the way his mind works is fascinating.
