Jake Sterland hopes to become the latest Brooksby Melton College student to graduate from the Tigers academy into the club’s development squad.
The back-three player hails from Market Harborough and played for his local club at the same time as studying at Welland Park Academy.
A keen sportsman, Jake enjoys athletics, competing in the 100m, 200m and javelin, as well as “a bit of basketball” and motocross in addition to his rugby. “Just anything I can do to stay active, really,” he says.
“I used to play in the back row, before getting moved to outside centre and now into the back three.
“It’s quite a change, but it’s about getting used to [the change] quickly. I love rugby for the adrenaline rush I get playing the sport, as well as the physicality of it.”
