Kit Smith was an early starter in rugby, attending his first events at his local club in Tamworth as a four-year-old.
He was originally a centre – and played at Welford Road in the Prima Tiger Cup in the under-10s age-group – before moving to the back row and came through trials to join Tigers’ Developing Player Programme based in Walsall and Keele, then joined the club’s academy in 2018.
He was among four Tigers academy players selected for the England Under-18 development tour to South Africa in August 2019 and joined the club’s Development squad in 2019/20.

Who was your favourite rugby player growing up?
Paul O’Connell, he was a great leader and always gave everything on the pitch.
If you could play alongside any rugby player in the world, who would it be?
Richie McCaw – it would make my life a lot easier!
What’s your first memory of Welford Road?
I played there in the Prima Tiger Cup with Tamworth Under-10s. It was a great experience.
