From a sporting family, wing Luke Phoenix was among the Leicester Tigers intake from Norfolk for the start of the 2017/18 season.
Born in King’s Lynn and with a family home near Fakenham, Luke has a strong sporting pedigree. His dad played for North Walsham RFC and played touch rugby with England, while brother John is nationally ranked in the triple jump and their uncle is Fred Sall, the former Olympic Games long jumper.
Luke, a student at Langley School, acknowledges the role the Tigers DPP in Norfolk played in getting him this far in his rugby career.
“Tim Malone was brilliant for us, you couldn’t ask for a better mentor,” he says. “It was a really positive experience and everyone tried their best".
Blessed with pace, the youngster played as a centre before making the move to wing when joining Tigers and can also play at full-back.
