Player Stats

  • Date of Birth10 Jan 2001
  • BirthplacePencoed, South Wales

Sam played a prominent part in Leicester Tigers’ Academies Under-18 League victory and an unbeaten season in 2017/18, starting the Final victory over Gloucester at Allianz Park.

As a fly-half, Costelow followed his father and grandfather playing for his local club. Now under the stewardship of Dave Wilks, Jamie Taylor and Anthony Allen at Tigers, he hopes to continue to push on his development.

“Everything has to be 100% and this has helped me to continue to push my performance – if I don’t get 10 out of 10 kicks, I’m not happy”, he says.

“It was great to be a part of the league-winning side but we know that counts for nothing.

“As one of the older boys, it's key we take on more leadership around camp and welcome the new crop of lads getting them familiar with the set-up.”

Sam cites George Ford and Mathew Tait as some of his favourite players: “Not the biggest, but great rugby players”, he adds.
