Tigers named in England squads

Six Leicester Tigers players have been retained in the England Elite Player Squad ahead of this season's RBS 6 Nations Championship - and Geoff Parling joins them as injury cover.

The 32-man England squad includes Dan Cole, Tom Croft, Louis Deacon, Toby Flood, Manu Tuilagi and Ben Youngs.

They will be joined by Tigers second-rower Parling who is one of four players elevated to the squad as temporary injury cover.

Leicester Tigers director of rugby Richard Cockerill said: “We congratulate all of our players who have been chosen as part of the new England squads.

“It is particularly gratifying for the club to see that five of the six in the senior squad have come all the way through the ranks at Leicester Tigers, from the Academy up to establishing themselves in the first-team squad here and on into Test rugby with England.

“This club always retains a strong home-grown core and it says a lot for the strength of our set-up that they go all the way to international status.”

There are 15 changes to the August 2011 squad, including first time call-ups for Brad Barritt, Owen Farrell, Lee Dickson, Calum Clark and Ben Morgan. Flood, with 46 international caps, is the most experienced player in the squad.

Dave Attwood, Alex Goode and Henry Trinder join Parling as temporary replacements for injury victims Courtney Lawes, Flood, Deacon and Tuilagi.

The Elite Saxons squad includes Tigers players Thomas Waldrom, Anthony Allen, Billy Twelvetrees and Micky Young.
