The Welford Road pitch has been under wraps since Sunday ahead the LV= Cup clash with London Wasps.

Tigers, the defending LV= Cup champions, take on old rivals Wasps in the third round of fixtures in a 3pm kick-off this Saturday.

There are two games for the price of one this Saturday with the Academy Under 18s taking on Gloucester Academy Under 18s in a clash of the two unbeaten teams in the Aviva Premiership Rugby U18 League after the final whistle of the LV= Cup game.

The Welford Road playing surface is being protected from the current cold conditions by Sports Stadia Service’s MacLeod heatdome.

The dome, which is inflated with warm air to insulate the pitch against the cold, was put in place after the final whistle had sounded on Sunday’s Heineken Cup victory over Toulouse. It will stay in place until the morning of the match, which kicks off at 3pm on Saturday.

Snow is forecast for Leicester on Friday. Tigers again have a team on standby to clear the snow with the aid of Leicester City Council, main club sponsor Caterpillar, who are ready to bring in a Telehandler, and Breedon Aggregates, who are on standby with a tipper truck to take any snow away from the ground.

Tickets are still available for the LV= Cup clash with London Wasps and the U18s clash. Book your seats in person at the Welford Road ticket office, on 0844 856 1880 or online by clicking here
