Tigers Family in Toulon

Figure image
Leicester Tigers have had their final training session before Sunday's Heineken Cup quarter-final clash with French league leaders Toulon (kick off 5.30pm local time/4.30pm UK time).

Richard Cockerill’s men trained on the Stade Felix Mayol pitch on Saturday morning with the Toulon team due to train there during the afternoon. Click here for the team news.

The stadium is in the centre of Toulon, close to the fan village in Place Besange which provided a focal point for many of the 1,500 travelling Tigers supporters.

The Rugby Club Toulonnais Village opened at 11am on Saturday, with food and drink, children's activities and live music, as well as big-screen coverage of the other Heineken Cup fixtures featuring ASM Clermont Auvergne versus Montpellier and Saracens versus Ulster.

And despite light rainfall through Saturday morning and into the afternoon, there were plenty of Tigers shirts dotted around the city centre. The weather forecast for matchday is for sunshine and temperatures of up to 18C.

The fan village reopens at 10am on Sunday morning, with more games and activities, music, food and drink stalls, and the Harlequins versus Munster quarter-final on the big screen before attention switches to the Toulon versus Tigers match.

Welford Road will open its doors to Tigers fans with live coverage of the game on the big screen in Final Whistle in the Caterpillar Stand. Admission is free and the bar will be open.

Travelling supporters have been arriving in Toulon via flights to Marseille, Nice and Toulon itself with many fans making the journey by train and by car.

It will be the first time that Toulon and Tigers have met in a competitive fixture with a place in the last four of European rugby's premier club competition at stake. Tigers will run out in their black and carbon European kit.

We will be bringing the build-up, the action and reaction as well as exclusive photos from Toulon on the Tigers club website, on the @LeicesterTigers Twitter pages, and on the Official Leicester Tigers Facebook pages. Join us now on Twitter or like us on Facebook to join in the banter with fellow Tigers fans.

If you are part of the army of Tigers fans travelling to Toulon - or if you are gathering with friends closer to home to watch TV coverage and you're wearing your Tigers colours - we want to hear from you.
