Leicester Tigers lock horns with one of their oldest rivals on Sunday when Bath Rugby come to Welford Road in the 188th meeting of the two teams. With three wins in the opening four rounds of the Aviva Premiership season, Tigers return to league duties following back-to-back victories in Europe to face a Bath side who enjoyed a big win against three-time European champions Leinster last weekend.
The biggest crowd of the season so far is expected at Welford Road on Sunday for a massive encounter.
Kick-off is at 3pm and tickets are available now.
“Bath’s set-piece was exceptional against Leinster, they have quality throughout their team and it will be a big battle for us,” said Tigers director of rugby Richard Cockerill, a veteran of many Tigers-Bath clashes over the years.
“They should be very confident after a good win last week.
“We lost heavily down there at the start of last season and in the semi-final, but we beat them at home. We’ve had a solid start to the season we’re confident in what we are doing.”
Bath include former Tigers duo Horacio Agulla and George Ford in their starting line-up, alongside England internationals Anthony Watson and Kyle Eastmond, and South Africa back-rower Francois Louw, while Matt Banahan is in line for his 200th appearance of the club.
Tigers give a first start to the season for club captain Ed Slater in the second row, with an all-international front-row trio of Marcos Ayerza, Tom Youngs and Dan Cole, while Telusa Veainu is on the wing after scoring twice in the win over Benetton Treviso last weekend. Graham Kitchener comes into the squad after recovering rom injury.
