Tigers link up with National Citizen Service

Leicester Tigers are bringing together teenagers from across Leicestershire as part of the National Citizen Service programme.

The National Citizen Service was set up following last year’s riots and aims to get 16 and 17-year-olds involved in projects to benefit their communities.

Tigers are working with 33 people, who are taking on a series of activities in aid of charities, including car washing, a sponsored walk and food collections.

The young people will be holding a car wash at Welford Road this Friday (August 24). From 8am to 5.30pm, they will be washing cars in the Crumbie Car Park, behind the Holland & Barrett Stand in Aylestone Road, in aid of the Matt Hampson Foundation.

They have already offered a bag-packing service at supermarkets around Leicestershire and are collecting canned food for The Bridge in Loughborough, a charity which delivers housing related support services to homeless and vulnerably housed people. Pet food is being collected for Redgate Animal Sanctuary in Markfield.

And they are also organising a sponsored walk to be held in Bradgate Park on September 8
