Leicester Tigers was proud to play host once again to the annual Varsity rugby matches between the University of Leicester and De Montford University.
The 20th Varsity to be held at the home of Leicester Tigers saw thousands of fans arrive at Mattioli Woods Welford Road, many sporting the colours of their respective universities and cheering on their teams in fine voice.
The first match of the evening saw the respective women's teams do battle, as the University of Leicester again claimed bragging rights, retaining the trophy with a hard fought 29 - 12 victory.
The University of Leicester have won every edition of this fixture since it's first instalment in 2004 and last night was no different, although De Montford have demonstrated great strides in their women's game to make it a compelling battle.
The second fixture of the day saw the men take to the field, with the University of Leicester securing the double as they triumphed by a score of 66 - 5.
